This is the number 4 design taken to step further to add lot more detail in greyscale. I decided to go with this design because of Sven’s history with the Virgil Knights. I thought the symmetric and angular design was quite fitting for an authority and this sword could be a heirloom of Sven’s father from his days of being one of the Virgil Knights. I recently started playing Dota 2 and also discovered Valve’s cool idea of getting the community involved in the creation of the in-game content. This has of course been around for a much longer time than the Workshop with Dota, but I personally really like the Dota/Warcraft art style, so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to try and create some cool items and learn bit more about creating game assets as well. Instead going for full sets of armor or couriers just yet, I’ve decided to start by making a sword for Sven. Getting used to all the technical limitations and familiarizing myself with the Dota shader and source engine should be interesting to say the least! Here’s some silhouetted ideas what it could be. In between the process of moving back home from New Zealand to Finland, I had plenty of time in my hands to sketch some random characters. Will need to try and make do without a computer more often to get more of these done. Click to enlarge
